Happ Lathrop, the SCGA Executive Director will be utilizing this new website to blog and keep everyone up to date on the tournaments events.
Sunday 2:40 P.M. – Austin’s brother Crawford Reeves, hears the news his brother won as he plays his final hole, #9.
Sunday 2:39 P.M. – Congratulations to our 2011 SC Amateur Champion, Austin Reeves!!!
Sunday 2:30 P.M. – Austin Reeves has a one shot lead over heading into final hole.
Sunday 2:15 P.M. – Jacob Burger hitting a bunch of good putts, just doesn’t have enough falling in the hole.
Sunday 1:40 P.M. – Caluder Moore sits with the clubhouse lead -2. Reeves and Stanley bogey 14, Reeves still leads by two.
Sunday 1:30 P.M. – Reeves still leads by two through 13 holes.
Sunday 1:08 P.M. - Austin Reeves chips in on #10 to get to -6.
Sunday 12:50 P.M. – At the Turn, Jacob Burger and Austin Reeves are -4, while Daniel Stanley and Lee Palms sit one shot back at -3 for the tournament.
Sunday 12:30 P.M. – It’s right around 90 degrees here, couldn’t ask for a better day to wrap up our 80th SC Amateur Championship.
Sunday 11:52 A.M. – Front hole location which appears accessible but players are having a rough time judging the distance and often coming up short, the bunker is getting a lot of action.
Sunday 8:20 A.M. – Players seem very focused heading into the final round. Some are looking for redemption from the golf course, others are trying to make a big move and exempt themselves into next years championship.
Sunday 7:30 A.M. – The course is set up and ready for play. Looking forward to another great day.
Saturday 7:18 P.M. – Done for the day and looking foward to a good final round tomorrow. See y’all in the morning.
Saturday 5:30 P.M. – Players have commented on how the course is amazingly difficult compared to the first two rounds but is set up fair and fun.
Saturday 4:45 P.M. – The final groups are through twelve. The wind is stronger than the last two days and are becoming a challenge to the players on the marshland exposed back nine.
Saturday 12:42 P.M. – The greens have maintained their quickness despite the rain, players are putting very cautiously, pace of play is better than expected with the cart rules.
Saturday 11:28 P.M. – Pace may be a little slower due to cart path only today with all the rain that came.
Saturday 10:28 A.M. – Players are getting a full dose of the Dye Course this morning, with wet conditions and playing a longer golf course than the past two days.
Saturday 9:18 A.M. – We are off and running for round three
Saturday 7:27 A.M. – We are under a one hour delay because of a night of heavy storms and rain.
Friday 7:45 P.M. – Time to call it a day and turn to the weekend to watch the drama unfold for our 2011 Championship. Signing off.
Friday 7:07 P.M. – 151 ended up being the cut number, 77 players will play the weekend.
Friday 6:08 P.M. – With three holes to go we will find out what the cut will be soon.
Friday 5:32 P.M. – Many are gathering around the scoring area waiting to see what the cut will be.
Friday 5:00 P.M. – There are some natural inhabitants making holes in certain areas of the course. But the fox squirrel is not a burrowing animal so players are not entitled to free relief in accordance with the Rules of Golf.
Friday 4:20 P.M. – I think some of the spectators are enjoying the view from the golf course more than the actual golf itself.
Friday 4:06 P.M. - The thick centipede rough here at the Dye Course has claimed it’s share of victims today.
Friday 2:34 P.M. – Jackson Moore has a special caddie on the bag this week for the SC Amateur, longtime family friend Bill Smunk. Smunk is the only player who has won our SC Amateur, SCGA Mid Amateur and SCGA Senior Championships. I’m sure Bill would like to think he helped young Moore birdie six of his last 10 holes, but Jackson is the one who had to pull the trigger. Jackson is fresh off of his first SCJGA Boys 13-18 title when he won the Blade Junior Golf Classic a few weeks ago.
Friday 12:45 P.M. – With the scores turned in this morning, we have three players sittng with the clubhouse lead at -3, McCuen Elmore, Nelson Dickson and Whit Suber. First round leader Evan Phillips of Lexington shot a 2nd round 78 to finish even par for a two day total. We’ll see how the overnight leaders fair this afternoon.
Friday 9:30 A.M. – The morning wave of day two has hit the course.
Thursday 4:13 – We have a handful of players who are hot other than the heat factor. Our SCGA Junior Champion, Austin Langdale is three under par through 11 holes. Clemson golfer McCuen Elmore and future College of Charleston golfer Shane Rogan are both turning a two under par. We’ll
see how the field holds up over the next three days.
Thursday 2:57 P.M. – Our players are not only battling a tough golf course, they are also trying to beat a hot and humid day here in the low country. I just drove by our clock on 10 tee, and it read 111 degrees. Summer heat has always been a factor in our SC Amateur championship, and it is certainly is no different this year.
Thursday 11:30 A.M. – Caulder Moore, our 2009 SCGA Junior Champion started his day out of the thick centipede rough on his way to an opening triple bogey. Now, I’m sure this isn’t the way he envisioned starting out his event, but staying true to his championship mentality, he has gotten a few strokes back and stands at one over par through 12 holes. It will take some good golf shots and patience to end up the victor at Colleton River.

Happ: weren’t you “20 our younger” when you lifted the trophy?

I am glad i don’t have to play, those young kids hit it way to long.
Even Frank knows were he can win hopefully.
Anyone seen Bagger Vance around hole #17?
Since Dr golf can’t play maybe he can be the first to loop for a
player to win. He has won everthing else.
